Steps to Join:

1: Obtain Your PPL

Flying members are required to have at least their Private Pilot’s License in order to join. The minimum medical requirement to fly any club aircraft is BasicMed.

2: Reach Out via Email

Let us know you are interested in joining by sending an email to info@gigharborflyingclub.org

3: Attend a Safety Meeting & Meet Two Board Members

We want to get to know you, too! We ask all prospective members to attend one of our monthly safety meetings held every second Saturday of the month. You can get a feel for the club and meet at least two board members in the process.

4: Review Club Rules and Bylaws Documents

To prepare you for the operations and expectations of the Gig Harbor Flying Club, please review these three key documents:

• GHFC Bylaws – Amended Feb 2023
• GHFC Operating Rules – Amended Aug 2023
• GHFC Safety Policy – Amended January 2026

Please note that as a member you will be expected to operate by these rules and bylaws, so review the documents thoroughly and ensure you have no issues or conflicts with the rules or bylaws before submitting your application!

5: Download and Submit Application Form for Review

Once you’ve reviewed the documents, and decide you want to join, you can download the Application Form here! Submit your completed application along with a flying resume, and cover letter to info@gigharborflyingclub.org. Remember: You must have attended a safety meeting and met at least two board members before submitting your application.

6: Upon Approval, Join Waitlist

GHFC has a 50 active member limit. If full, approved members will be added to the waiting list below. They will be onboarded in order as memberships become available.

7: Onboard and Complete Orientation

Once a membership slot opens up and you’re off the waitlist, you will be invited to formally tour our hangars and office facility and then complete your orientation with our CFI’s. The initiation fee is $1000 plus first month dues which are $150 per month. 

8: Aircraft Checkout and Enjoyment!

It’s time to fly! Schedule a lesson with the club-approved CFI of your choice to get checked out in our aircraft and begin enjoying the benefits of your membership.
